IEEE Technical Committee on Learning Technology (LTTC)

Kinshuk, LTTC Chair

[ PHOTOGRAPH OF KINSHUK ] Kinshuk received his PhD from De Montfort University, Leicester, United Kingdom where he was involved in the research on intelligent tutoring systems under Byzantium project. The project resulted in four intelligent tutoring modules which are currently available through Blackwell Publishers. Subsequently, he joined German National Research Center for Information Technology (GMD) where his involvement with intelligent tutoring system continued in the area of cognitive skills development. He is currently working as Associate Professor at Massey University, New Zealand.

While at GMD, he started the International Forum of Educational Technology & Society (IFETS) with the view to provide a common platform for educational system developers and educators who implement and manage such systems. He still co-ordinates the forum where regular formal discussions take place on various educational technology issues. The discussions are moderated so as to narrow them down to some feasible conclusions rather than turning into a wild jungle of ideas.

Kinshuk has published more than 65 articles in refereed journals, international conferences and workshops, and book chapters. He edits the Educational Technology & Society journal (ISSN 1436-4522) and Learning Technology newsletter (ISSN 1438-0625). He is editorial board member of a number of refereed journals and program committee member of various international conferences. He is Member of IEEE, IEEE Computer Society, IEEE Educational Society, IEEE Standards Association, ACM, ACM SIGCHI, International Artificial Intelligence in Education Society, and Association for Advancement of Computing in Education. He also chairs the New Zealand chapter of ACM SIGCHI.
